Let's face it, it's not simple getting used to this new device and RIM may have sent it out a bit early, prior to fixing some of the bigger bugs associated with it. For instance, when I am sending a text, I really don't need the camera to turn on :). So anyway, let's get on to the top 5 tips that will help your device perform at a more efficient level: Tip 1: Get rid of the applications that you do not use
- Tap the application you want to move, click the BlackBerry action key and select Hide in the menu that appears.
What does this tip do?
Basically, this cleans up your desktop. Unless you're one of those people who like a cluttered desktop, this tip probably isn't for you :)
- Click on Options in the BlackBerry menu, select AutoText, click the BlackBerry key and select New in the menu that appears to define your own AutoText shortcuts.
What does this tip do?
Just like the tip says, you can easily personalize your autotext
Tip 3: Customize your convenience buttons
- Click on Options, find Screen/Keyboard, scroll to the entry for Convenience Keys and choose what you'd like your Convenience Keys to do (launch an application, lock the screen, whatever).
What does this tip do?
Tired of having to click 3 times to send a text message? Me too. That's why I made my left side convenience key a direct link to my text messages, fast and easy.
Tip 4: Turn off the Dial From Home option
- In the Phone application, hit the BlackBerry menu key, select Options, select General Options and find the Dial From Home Screen option to turn it off.
What does this tip do?
This will allow you to tie applications to keyboard shortcuts.
Tip 5: Turn off the blinking coverage LED
- Select Options, select Screen/Keyboard, search for the LED Coverage Indicator option and turn it to off.
What does this tip do?
I don't like the constant blinking of that LED light anyway, so turning it off was great for me!
More about the Blackberry Storm:
Research In Motion Ltd. (NASDAQ: RIMM) released its own touch-screen wireless handset and so far, it's been selling well. The BlackBerry Storm, though, seems to have been plagued by software issues, user interface problems and reeks of a unit that was rushed to market before it was finished. In many ways, this happens every day from all kinds of companies. With RIM - a company known for outstanding and solid products, this just doesn't fit.
